Series: Light on Life Podcast

Big Idea

Christ, the Cornerstone rejected by men and exalted by God, is the only foundation that can support a life of enduring faith, hope, and purpose.

Key Texts

“The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” — Matthew 21:42 (cf. Psalm 118:22; 1 Peter 2:4–7; Ephesians 2:19–22)

  • Matthew 21:42 — Jesus cites Psalm 118, identifying Himself as the Cornerstone.
  • 1 Peter 2:4–7 — Believers as living stones built on Christ.
  • Ephesians 2:19–22 — God’s household built on Christ, the chief Cornerstone.

Background

In ancient building, the cornerstone fixed the layout and stability of the entire structure. If the cornerstone was set true, the building stood firm. If not, everything skewed. In the same way, when Jesus is set in His rightful place in our lives, alignment and strength follow.

Teaching Flow

  1. The Rejected Stone: Why the builders missed Jesus (expectations, offense, and unbelief).
  2. God’s Exaltation: Resurrection and enthronement validate the Cornerstone.
  3. Alignment: Bringing beliefs, habits, and priorities to square with Christ.
  4. Building Together: Living stones in a spiritual house — unity and purpose.
  5. Enduring in Trials: A true foundation that stabilizes through storms.
