S12-037 — Jesus Is Our Cornerstone
Jesus is our cornerstone—the solid foundation on which everything lasting and true is built (Matt. 21:42). What others rejected, God exalted. With Christ in His rightful place, everything holds together.
Big Idea
Key Texts
“The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” — Matthew 21:42 (cf. Psalm 118:22; 1 Peter 2:4–7; Ephesians 2:19–22)
- Matthew 21:42 — Jesus cites Psalm 118, identifying Himself as the Cornerstone.
- 1 Peter 2:4–7 — Believers as living stones built on Christ.
- Ephesians 2:19–22 — God’s household built on Christ, the chief Cornerstone.
Background
In ancient building, the cornerstone fixed the layout and stability of the entire structure. If the cornerstone was set true, the building stood firm. If not, everything skewed. In the same way, when Jesus is set in His rightful place in our lives, alignment and strength follow.
